Program Description
The proposed certificate is designed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing medical device industry in the nation. This program supports the unique needs of students currently graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Engineering and Computer Science or College of Science and Mathematics, as well as those who are in their early through mid-career in this industry. The proposed certificate is applicable in important areas of medical device design, development, and manufacturing, along with regulatory requirements. The certificate may be completed in as few as two semesters. Students may earn the certificate as a stand alone credential or as part of a Master of Science degree offered through the Department of Biomedical, Industrial and Human Factors Engineering.
Admission Requirements
Admission to this certificate program requires a completed bachelor’s degree with a 2.7 or higher GPA. The certificate may be earned as part of a graduate degree program or as a stand alone certificate for a non-degree graduate student.
Program Learning Outcomes
Student will be able to:
- Apply knowledge to select materials and design, develop and prototype implants;
- Understand design, development and regulatory requirements in medical devices;
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form, at a high level of knowledge.
