Program Description
The Pre-Law Pathways certificate is intended for students who want to attend law school. Students learn about the U.S. legal system and how to critically analyze legal source material, such as court decisions and statutes. Students are given important instruction on the U.S. Constitution and in specific areas of law and social policy. Courses that require pre-requisites that are not a part of the certificate are marked with a (*). To seek an enrollment waiver, consult the Pre-Law Director.
Admission Requirements
This academic program does not have admission requirements beyond regular admission to Wright State University. Any student is eligible to declare this academic program.
Program Learning Objectives
Students enrolled in this program will learn to:
- describe the basic structure and process in the US legal system;
- identify important case precedents decided by the United States Supreme Court, as well as significant rules and doctrines in American constitutional law;
- describe important common law and statutory rules of American substantive and procedural law
Program Learning Outcomes
As a result of their learning experience, graduates of this program can:
- identify the fundamental structure and processes in the US legal system;
- explain legal reasoning and discuss cases decided by the United States Supreme Court;
- discuss rules and doctrines in constitutional law;
- describe important substantive and procedural rules in American law
