Program Description

Global health is interdisciplinary involving political, cultural, economic and environmental considerations that affect the health of communities and individuals around the world. The goal of global health is to promote population health, safety and well-being, and to eliminate health and social disparities worldwide. Global health professionals develop innovative solutions to challenging health problems, particularly in resource-limited environments.

Admission Requirements

The Certificate Program requires acceptance by the Graduate School as a non-degree student. A supplemental department application along with a two-page personal statement is also required.  Students must have earned at minimum a baccalaureate degree from an accredited University.  Degree-seeking students currently enrolled in a program at Wright State are eligible to take the required courses and earn the Certificate.

  • Critically appraise evaluation and research related to global health.
  • Enhance socio-cultural and political awareness.
  • Apply systems thinking to analyze a diverse range of complex and interrelated factors shaping health at local, national, and international levels.

To earn the Certificate in Global Health (GH), students must successfully complete PPH 7710  (Global Health) along with two (2) three-credit-hour global-health-related electives. Below is a list of approved elective courses:
