2025-2026 Academic Catalog
Classical Languages and Cultures, BA (GPS)
|
|
Effective Fall 2026, this program will no longer admit new students. Summer 2026 will be the last semester that new students or students changing majors can declare this major.
This Graduation Planning Strategy (GPS) outlines a sample four-year path to graduation and is valid for this catalog year only. This plan is a recommendation, and your actual program may vary. This suggested four-year graduation plan is not a substitute for regular academic advising appointments.
All undergraduate degree programs require at least 120 credit hours. To graduate in four years, students must earn an average of 15 credit hours per semester (fall and spring). The time it takes to complete a degree and the sequence in which courses are taken will depend on any credits transferred to WSU and placement in math and writing.
See the Academic Catalog for a complete listing of curriculum requirements, course prerequisites, and course descriptions. Course offerings and prerequisites are subject to change.

*Classics majors take a minimum of 5 semesters of Classical Greek (GR) or Latin (LAT); additional semesters of a Classical language may substitute for CLS electives. Four semesters of language (1010-2020) double count as the CoLA language requirement. **Classics majors are encouraged to take CLS 1500 & CLS 1600 to fulfill Area 3 and Area 4 of the Wright State Core. If these Core areas are fulfilled by other courses, CLS 1500 and CLS 1600 will count as CLS electives. GRADUATION REQUIRES 120 TOTAL CREDIT HOURS. 42 HOURS MUST BE AT THE 3000 LEVEL OR ABOVE. This plan outlines a four-year path to graduation. You are expected to satisfy all “success marker” courses, grades, and GPAs as specified. For part-time students and students needing to complete background material, this schedule represents the suggested order in which courses should be taken. This suggested plan does not replace regular advising appointments. Some course offerings may change. |
