Classroom Teacher, Learning & Motivation, MA
Learn About Learning:
This graduate degree will enrich the candidate’s understanding of how to facilitate the learning process in early childhood or their chosen concentration. This non-licensure, non-endorsement master’s degree program focuses on building a strong foundation in learning theory and the psychology of motivation.
As this program is not a teacher preparation program, it is ideal for individuals who do not wish to be licensed to teach in Ohio.
The Learning and Motivation program prepares students to work in a broad range of education related professions. Students will learn how to apply current learning theories to develop and conduct education and/or training programs and to create effective learning environments. Students will develop education and communication skills to become better coaches, mentors, trainers, and leaders.
The Learning and Motivation Master’s program offers a unique and flexible interdisciplinary opportunity for graduate study. Students are expected to explore the teaching and learning process from diverse perspectives. The program courses may be drawn from offerings throughout the College of Education and Human Services.
Students are also encouraged to participate in interdisciplinary programs. Electives may be taken in other colleges when they are related to a student’s focus of study and approved by the director of the Learning and Motivation program.
A graduate student’s program of study might focus on a specific concentration. A Master of Arts thesis option is available for students wishing to pursue a more research-oriented program of study.
In consultation with the program director, students design their own integrated, individualized curriculum, pursuing full-time or part-time study by attending on-line and some evening classes.
**Neither teacher licensure programs or licensure endorsement programs can qualify as part of the Learning & Motivation program coursework.
