The College of Liberal Arts offers a wide variety of degree programs in the fine arts, the humanities, and the social sciences. The college also helps prepare students for professional and graduate study and cooperates with other colleges in offering joint professional and preprofessional programs. The college contributes the largest number of courses to the university’s Core Program, providing students with much of the knowledge that is at the heart of a broad liberal education, as well as many of the skills and habits of mind that are the mark of an educated person.

The college offers four undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Arts, the Bachelor of Fine Arts, the Bachelor of Science, and the Bachelor of Music. The college also offers master’s degree programs in applied behavioral science, English, history, humanities, international and comparative politics, music, social work, and public administration.

Direct Admission

College Admission (major-intending)

For students applying direct from high school:
Minimum 2.5 high school cumulative grade point average or 17 ACT/830 SAT
Note:  Students meeting university admissions criteria with a grade point average below 2.5 and test scores below 17 ACT/830 SAT will be admitted to University College)

For transfer students:
Minimum 2.0 grade point average from last institution attended, and
C or better in ENG 1100 or any passing grade in two Wright State CORE courses offered in the Liberal Arts.

For current Wright State University students:
Minimum 2.0 WSU cumulative grade point average (may be higher for certain programs), and
C or better in ENG 1100, or any passing grade in two Wright State Core courses offered in the Liberal Arts.

Admission into the Major

For students applying direct from high school:
3.25 minimum cumulative high school grade point average, and
22 ACT/1030 SAT, and
Other requirements of the individual major.

For transfer students:
Minimum 2.0 grade point average from last institution attended (ma be higher for certain programs), and
C or better in ENG 1100, and
two Wright State CORE courses offered in the Liberal Arts, and
other requirements of the specific major.

For current Wright State University students:
Minimum 2.0 WSU cumulative grade point average, and
C or better in ENG 1100, and
2 liberal arts core classes
