Program Description
This Lean Six Sigma microcredential combines the synergistic strengths of two quality management techniques: Lean and Six Sigma. Lean focuses on the elimination of waste, while Six Sigma focuses on process improvement. The Lean Six Sigma microcredential documents a student’s ability to identify the root causes of process, product, or service waste and eliminate them in order to increase productivity.
Program Learning Objectives
Students enrolled in this micro-credential will learn to:
- Define processes using various quality management tools (e.g., QFD, SIPOC process mapping, or CTQ)
- Measure the process
- Analyze the process
- Improve quality and reduce waste using DMADV (Define-Measure-Analyze-Design-Verify) or DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control)
- Control, verify process improvement or waste reduction
Program Learning Outcomes
As a result of their learning experience, students who complete this micro-credential can:
