This plan outlines a two-year path to graduation. You are expected to satisfy all “success marker” courses, grades, and GPAs as specified. For part-time students and students needing to complete background material, this schedule represents the order in which courses should be taken. This suggested plan to two-year graduation does not replace regular advising appointments. Some course offerings may change.

Program Description


The Office Information Systems Program prepares individuals to serve as administrative support personnel and office managers. These individuals receive extensive coursework and hands-on training in traditional office skills, the latest software applications and supervisory and managerial skills. Emphasis is placed on managing the information flow in the office, handling client/customer relations, providing effective communication within the organization and with the general public and the business community, solving problems and making decisions, and supervising other workers.

The administrative assistant in today’s business world is a professional who must make decisions and project and use communication skills and writing expertise to advance the public image of the executive for whom he or she works. Administrative assistants must be proficient in all areas of the office procedure and be skilled in operating office equipment in addition to assisting the executive. The Office Information Systems Program encompasses all of the necessary skills while giving the student a well-rounded background.

Additional Comments


Students need no special coursework to enter the A.A.B. in Office Information Systems: Administrative Assistant option.
Must have a 2.0 GPA to graduate.
