Program Description
Sociology is concerned with social relations:
- How people relate to each other as individuals, in families, and in other groups
- How they interact within various social institutions, including the workforce and government
- How their behavior is judged socially acceptable or deviant by others
The sociology minor will help train you to observe and analyze social interactions, predict likely outcomes, and determine how we can develop programs for the good of individuals and society.
Admission Requirements
To become a sociology minor, you need to have a minimum 2.0 GPA and have completed a minimum of 21 credit hours, including ENG 1010 (with a grade of C or better), and any two additional General Education courses.
Program Learning Objectives
Sociology minors will learn to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of sociological methodologies and/or major theoretical perspectives
- Produce critically-engaged writing and analysis

Departmental Requirements
Sociology Electives: 15 Hours
- 15 hours of sociology courses of which 9 hours must be 3000 or above (note– SOC 2000 cannot be used towards minor completion)
