Course Description: Survey of Confucianism in Chinese history, including classical expressions of Confucian thought, influential Neo-Confucian thinkers and the modern fate of Confucianism in Chinese society and culture. Topics include Heaven, human nature and self-cultivation, conceptions of the sage, and Confucian political philosophy.
