REL 5940 - Existentialism Credit Hour(s): 3 (Also listed as PHL 5090.) Introduction to 20th century philosophical and literary movement. Emphasis on concrete existence and the passions over abstract rationality, conception of self as a product of radically free acts of self-creation, affirmation of uncertainty and absurdity as inescapable elements of the human condition, and rejection of traditional ethical systems.
