Clinical Laboratory Sciences, BS (GPS)


This programs outlines a four-year path to graduation. You are expected to satisfy all “success marker” courses, grades, and GPAs as specified.  For part-time students and students needing to complete background material, this schedule represents the order in which courses should be taken.  This suggested plan to four-year graduation does not replace regular advising appointments.  Come course offerings may change.

Total: 16 Credit Hours


SUCCESS MARKERS: Complete BIO 1120 CHM 1210 , CHM 1210L ENG 1100 MTH 1280  with C or better; maintain a GPA of 2.7 or better

Term Two


Total: 16 Credit Hours


SUCCESS MARKERS: Complete BIO 1150 CHM 1220 , CHM 1220L ENG 2100 , and STT 2640  with C or better; maintain a GPA of 2.7 or better

Term Three


Total: 14.5 Credit Hours


SUCCESS MARKERS: Complete BIO 2100 BIO 2110 BIO 2130 CHM 2110 CHM 2110L  with C or better; maintain a GPA of 2.7 or better

Term Seven


Clinical Year

Includes 40 credit hours of CL coursework spread over 3 semesters (Summer, Fall, Spring).  Clinical year is a 12-month program consisting of didactic coursework and rotations at affiliated laboratories.

Term Eight


Clinical Year

Classes include: hematology, clinical chemistry, pathology, urine and body fluid analysis, microbiology, parasitology, and immunohematology

Notes:


  • This program illustrates a possible 4-year completion of BS Clinical Laboratory Science degree.
  • Admission to the CLS program is competitive and limited.
  • An overall GPA of 2.7 or better is required.
  • Criteria used to determine admission include the student’s academic record, 3 letters of recommendation, and results of a personal interview.  Additional credit will be required if college algebra pr-requisites are necessary.
