This program provides a broader analysis of issues experienced by diverse populations within the US criminal justice system and proposes real-world solutions.

Program Admissions Requirements

This academic program does not have admission requirements beyond regular admission to Wright State University. Any student is eligible to declare this academic program.

Program Learning Objectives

Students will learn to:

Understand the basic structure of the US Criminal Justice System.
Explore diverse treatment within the US criminal justice system based on one's race, class, sex, gender, and/or disability.
Explore the causes of diverse treatment within the US criminal justice system based on race, class, sex, gender, or disability.
Evaluate specific solutions to the problems faced by diverse groups within the criminal justice system.

Describe the basic structure of the US Criminal Justice System.
Identify specific issues faced by diverse groups within the US criminal justice system.
Explain the specific causes of disparity in the US criminal justice system for diverse groups of Americans.

Students successfully completing (with a C or better) SOC 2700 (Required) and two additional upper-level electives will earn the Cultural Awareness in Crime and Justice Studies-Intermediate Undergraduate Microcredential —9 total credit hours.
