Program Description

The Applied Humanities undergraduate certificate uses the humanities to address real-world challenges. It is the final component of the Wright Questions program-four multi-semester learning communities and curricular pathways built around Core courses and the challenges associated with health, violence, machines, and the environment.

Each pathway fulfills five general education Core requirements. Students who complete a Wright Questions sequence of coursework (plus one humanities elective outside of the Core) may apply to earn the Applied Humanities undergraduate certificate.

Program Admission Requirements

This academic program does not have admission requirements beyond regular admission to Wright State University. Any student is eligible to declare this academic program.

Program Learning Objectives

Students enrolled in this program will learn to:

appreciate how a variety of phenomena (art, religion, politics, etc.) have shaped the problems we face and how we face them
work collaboratively and give and receive feedback across disciplines
develop reasoned arguments for problem solving
apply the writing process to conduct research on complex projects

Program Learning Outcomes

As a result of their learning experience, graduates of this program can:

evaluate diverse perspectives
analyze complex issues
apply the humanities and social sciences to real-world problem solving
write effective content for different contexts
