Program Description
The Raj Soin College of Business develops business leaders with a global perspective. To prepare students and develop the talent businesses need, the College offers Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in Management.
Admission Requirements
Pre-Business Status:
All students will begin at Wright State as a pre-business student until they have met the program admission requirements to move to BSB-Business standing. Students will be admitted to BSB-Business status once they meet the following admission requirements:
- 30 credit hours or more, and
- 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher (inclusive of all college credit)
BSB-Business Status:
Students must complete the following 2000-level courses to register for upper-level business courses:
- The term after the following 7 courses are completed, students can register for 3000-level courses while finishing the remaining 4 lower-level business courses: ACC 2010; EC 2040, 2050; EC 1050 or MTH 2280; ENG 1100; MKT 2500; MS 2040.
- The term after all 11 of the 2000-level courses are completed, students can register for 4000-level courses: ACC 2020; ENG 2100; FIN 2210; MS 2050.
Students must meet all course prerequisites to register for any business course.
Admission from University College and other Wright State Colleges:
The Raj Soin College of Business has a two-tier admission process. Students in University College or another Wright State College must meet the following Tier I requirements to be admitted to the College:
Tier I:
2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average
30 semester credit hours earned
Tier II:
Students are required to complete all of the following Tier II courses before granted full-business status:
ENG 1100
ENG 2100
MTH 2280
ACC 2010
ACC 2020
EC 2040
EC 2050
FIN 2210
MS 2040
MS 2050
MKT 2500
In the semester that the last Tier II requirements are scheduled, students will automatically be transferred from a pre-business to a full-business major status. This allows you to enroll in upper level business courses.
Enrollment in upper-level business courses is restricted to students who have been admitted to the college, completed the Tier II requirements, and attained junior standing. This ensures that students have the appropriate pre-requisites and an adequate foundation for their professional course work in business.
Objectives
Students enrolled in the Management Major will learn:
- The fundamental skills required of leaders and managers.
- How to lead and facilitate teams.
- How to organize projects and processes.
- How to understand and develop leadership character, skills, and competencies in self and others.
- How to lead organizational change.
Outcomes
Students successfully graduating from this program can:
- Understand the complementary relationship between management and leadership.
- Understand the core competencies required for effective management and leadership in organizational environments.
- Organize and lead a project.
- Facilitate effective team meetings in a variety of common leadership situations.
- Understand the foundations of leadership character and how to develop character through future leadership opportunities.
