Human Resource Management Certificate


Program Description

The Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management (Certificate) Program seeks to attract college graduates who wish to further enhance their mastery of the field of Human Resources (HR) or prepare for HR roles. The program provides exposure to theory, research, and practice in the field of HR. The Certificate will primarily be comprised of graduate-level management courses currently offered by the Department. One course from the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program will be required for the Certificate, and the remaining five courses in the Certificate Program are graduate-level electives for the MBA Program. Certificate students will develop competence in the functional knowledge areas required for entry-level professional positions in Human Resources Management, proficiency in the skills and practices required for managerial positions in Human Resources Management, and the interpersonal proficiencies that promote the success of an organization.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Certificate Program, students need to meet the following qualification:

  • BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university.

Program Learning Outcomes

Certificate recipients will be able to:

  • recognize the scope of the field of human resource management,
  • understand the major challenges facing human resource management professionals,
  • recruit applicants efficiently and ethically, and
  • hire employees in ways that are valid and legal.
