Studio Art Minor


Program Description

The minor is Studio Art is designed to allow students to complement other academic interests with creative and artistic practice. It is intended for students who wish to develop artistic and conceptual skills while expanding their understanding of aesthetics and visual literacy. The minor is designed to be flexible and allows for students to either survey several studio practices or concentrate in a specific medium.

Admission Requirements

To declare a Studio Art minor, consult with your academic advisor and with the Chair of the Department of Art & Art History.  Students must have a minimum 2.0 overall GPA to be accepted into the minor.

Program Learning Outcomes 

  • Have integrated drawing skills into their aesthetic sensibility.
  • Be able to demonstrate an acquaintance with the materials and procedures of studio disciplines taught at Wright State.
  • Have an understanding of the evolution of art history.
  • Have integrated the study of original works of art into their artistic practice.

I. Wright State Core: 3 Hours


II. Required Courses: 3 Hours


III. Studio Electives: 12 Hours


Any four studio courses at either the 2000- or 3000-level.

 

Total: 18 Hours
