Program Description:

The Social Work Associate of Arts major prepares students for articulation or transfer to a baccalaureate degree program. The student who earns this degree may find employment as a social work assistant. This occupation involves dealing with people often working for family services, children's services, public schools, hospitals, mental health centers, and probation and parole boards.

Social Work Assistants work in a wide range of employment settings. This degree is a good foundation for pursuing the four-year baccalaureate degree which expands career opportunities. Wright State (Dayton campus) offers a number of related baccalaureate degrees such as social work, psychology, business, sociology, or rehabilitation. A Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership is offered at the Lake Campus.

Admission Requirements: You are expected to satisfy all “success marker” courses, grades, and GPAs as specified. This suggested plan for two-year graduation does not replace regular advising appointments. Some course offerings may change.

Program Learning Objectives:

Students enrolled in the Social Work AA Program will learn to:

• Learn skills needed for dealing with people in areas such as but not limited to family services, children's services, public schools, and hospitals.
• Acquire the foundation of undergraduate classes need to further matriculate into a BS degree at Lake or Dayton campus.

As a result of their program learning experiences, students can:

• Exhibit skills needed for dealing with people in areas such as but not limited to family services, children's services, public schools, and hospitals.
• Have the foundation of undergraduate classes needed to further matriculate into a BS degree at Lake or Dayton campus.
