Technical Study, AAS, Technical Skills Trac Concentration

Program Description

The program is a blended learning program featuring online course work which is available to the student 24/7. In conjunction the student will have to an approximately equal number of lab hours to complete hands-on skill validation tasks. The program will allow the student to achieve professional manufacturing and/or maintenance positions in manufacturing

Admission Requirements:

The student will need to meet WSU requirements for admission into the AAS program. Credit transfer covered currently by the university will transfer to the AAS.

Program Learning Outcomes:

1. Student will learn manufacturing safety, applied mathematics, and basic mechanical skills.
2. Student will learn the basics of electricity, motors, motor control relay systems, and electrical distribution, wiring, and contactors.
3. Student will learn basics of hydraulics/pneumatics in manufacturing systems as well as the basics of welding & machining in order to repair or retool manufacturing materials and tools.
4. Student will learn programmable logic controller (PLC’s) software, hardware & numbering codes for programming, understand PLC sequencing, data manipulation, & installation, and construct and modify PLC to control station components.
5. Student will learn how to fully automate industrial operations systems including vision systems, animation, and process improvement as well as learn teach pendant and understand programming for Motoman & Fanuc robotic systems.
