Program Description
Businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies are increasingly relying on data to drive decision-making, increase productivity and profitability. Every action we take, from donating blood to buying groceries, is recorded and analyzed to better serve you. Graduates who can make sound decisions when choosing, implementing and using these systems are in high demand locally, nationally, and globally. If you are curious about innovation, and like solving problems, a minor in management information systems will enhance your existing major and advance your career.
Admission Requirements
The minor is open to business and non-business majors. You can be admitted to the management minor program once you are a junior and are in a major program.
Program Learning Outcomes
In this program, you will take four required courses on business systems analysis, business systems design, database management, and business processes and enterprise systems, as well as two electives of your choice. At the completion of this minor, you will be able to
- take part in organizational systems investigation, specification, design and development;
- diagnose issues which may arise in a relational database environment;
- build complex queries utilizing the SQL query language;
- navigate your way through an ERP system and its component modules.
These skills enable you to approach companies about internships or job opportunities.
