Econometrics and Data Analysis Certificate

Program Description

This graduate certificate engages students in a four-course sequence to become better equipped with the skills necessary to integrate, create and analyze economic data. Two required courses are drawn from the Departments of Economics, students can choose the other two courses from a number of departments across campus who study different domains of data analysis. 

Admissions Requirements

  • A BS or BA from an accredited college or university, and
  • Prerequisite courses: college-level statistics (MBA 5800 or equivalent) and calculus (EC1050 or equivalent) with a grade of C or higher.

Program Learning Outcomes

Certificate graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze economic data using cutting-edge tools in statistics, regression analysis and forecasting.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with current software used throughout the chain of data collection, formating, and presenting. 
  • Present and communicate the contents of analysis, including their visualization. 
  • Understand the methodologies, limitations, and assumptions employed to perform data analysis in Economics and other disciplines.

Minimum 12 Hours. Students must complete the two core econometrics graduate courses and accumulate a minimum of 12 credit hours total. Consequently, there are different combinations of courses that will fulfill the requirements for the Certificate. These are the minimum requirements; a student is not prohibited from taking additional courses in Economics or other related disciplines.
