Program Description:
Designed for licensed teachers with at least two years of successful classroom experience, the Principalship M.Ed. degree focuses on the theory and practice of:
- Effective supervision of instruction and personnel
- Development of sound, building-level administrative procedures
- Budget management
- Student services, including special education requirements, guidance and counseling, health and wellness, and discipline
The program is 100% online, so you can advance toward your degree on your schedule. There are up to three starts per year, allowing you to start when it’s convenient for you and enabling you to earn your degree in as few as 24 months.
Successful completion of the principalship program meets the educational requirements for the Ohio Professional Administrator Principal License as regulated by the Ohio Department of Education.
Licensure and certification requirements vary from state to state, and we have not determined if this program meets educational requirements outside of Ohio. If you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than Ohio, please contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding that state’s licensure or certification requirements.
Admissions Requirements:
Complete the online application and submit the application fee.
Submit official transcripts. Transcripts are required for all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
Submit official Miller’s Analogy test (MAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.

Submit a copy of your teaching license.
Three recommendation forms. At least one of these forms must be from a direct supervisor – principal, superintendent, or other school administrator. Please see the Graduate School application for the required two-page recommendation forms.
