Superintendent Licensure

Program Description:

Superintendent

The Superintendent Licensure courses may be taken as part of the Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) program or as a standalone licensure program. Candidates seeking a Superintendent license must have a master’s degree in  ducational Leadership or an advised equivalent, a current building-level Principal license, and at least three years experience as a building principal.

Upon successful completion of the Superintendent licensure program of study and passing the appropriate licensure exam, the holder of a current principal license who meets the criteria detailed in the previous paragraph is eligible for a Superintendent license. Please consult with a licensure advisor in the college’s Office of Student Services for current testing information.

The program does not lead to an initial teaching license. Upon completion of the program, students who hold a current Ohio principal license, have at least three years of building level leadership experience, and pass the appropriate licensure exam, will qualify for the Ohio Professional Administrator Superintendent license as regulated by the Ohio Department of Education. Licensure and certification requirements vary from state to state, and we have not determined if this program meets educational requirements outside of Ohio. If you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than Ohio, please contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding that state’s licensure or certification requirements.
