Credit Hour(s): 3
A large number of therapeutic, occupational, and environmental agents cause damage to genomic DNA and exert various toxic and mutagenic effects in human cells. This course explores the molecular and cellular mechanisms of DNA damage formation and the pathways that cells employ to repair and respond to genomic damage. Topics will also cover the human diseases and disorders that result from defects in the DNA damage response as well as the application of DNA damaging agents for therapeutic purposes.
