REL 5550 - Human Rights in China



Credit Hour(s): 3

Course Description: Survey of the debate on human rights in China in relation to events in modern Chinese history such as: the fall of imperial rule, the Nationalist and Communist revolutions, the Cultural Revolution, and the Tiananmen Square massacre. Focus to include measuring the impact of Confucianism on current Chinese thinking regarding the themes of modernization, democratization, and human rights. Examination extends beyond China to other regions including Singapore, Taiwan, and Tibet.

Enrollment Restrictions: Must be enrolled in one of the following levels: Graduate, Medical, Professional.
