Course Description:
Origin, evolution, and diversity of microbial and eukaryotic organisms and ecosystems. Use of microfossils as biostratigraphic indicators and their role in interpreting the geologic and climatic history of the Earth. Paleoecological, paleoenvironmental, and climatic reconstruction using specific microfossil organisms. Introduction to the Earth’s climate past, present, and future and the role of climate change as an agent of extinction events.
Prerequisite(s): Undergraduate level EES 4190 Minimum Grade of D
